Cheddar Caves & Gorge

Just 6 miles or ten minutes by car is the famous town of Cheddar (the original birthplace of the eponymous cheese). Famous for the extraordinary Gorge that climbs all the way to the top of the Mendip Hills, the river that formed the cliffs now runs deep below ground. Visitors can travel down into the caves to see where the water now runs or for the more adventurous, potholing and rock climbing activities are readily available.

Glastonbury

Glastonbury, with it's world-famous Tor and festival is just 20 minutes away by car. The view from the top of the Tor is superb - showing Somerset from the other side of the Mendips from Springfield. The old ruined Abbey is also an exceptional place to visit - sacked during the aboliton of the monasteries by King Henry VIII, it still retains an incredible sense of power and mystery.
